Harvey Thatch

Natural Charm. Modern Performance.

Maintenance-Free Living

There’s nothing quite like the warm, rustic charm of an African thatch roof. It brings character and ambiance to any space. But traditional thatch comes with ongoing maintenance, fire risk, and susceptibility to weather damage – all of which can diminish its appeal over time.

Harvey Thatch Tiles offer the perfect solution—delivering the iconic African aesthetic without the drawbacks. You get all the beauty and insulation benefits of natural thatch, with none of the hassle.

Natural Charm. No Headaches.

Traditional thatch demands regular combing, costly repairs, and is prone to damage by birds and rodents. Harvey Thatch Tiles preserve the aesthetic you love – while eliminating dust, decay, and upkeep.

Effortless Re-Roofing.

Unlike traditional re-thatching that causes significant disruption inside your home, Harvey Thatch Tiles can be installed over your current thatch layer. That means no mess, no intrusion, and no downtime – just a seamless upgrade with all the original warmth retained.

Built for Performance.

Engineered from lightweight, coated steel, Harvey Thatch Tiles offer durability, fire resistance, and long-lasting weather protection – ideal for both new builds and re-roofing projects.

Natural Stone.

Harvey Thatch Tiles are finished with natural, uncoloured stone granules – ensuring the colour stays true and never fades, even under the harsh African sun.

Fire Protection & Lightning Safety.

Fire risk

Fire is a constant concern for thatch homeowners – natural thatch poses a serious fire hazard to both residents and property. With Harvey Thatch Tiles, you can rest easy. Designed for peace of mind, Harvey Thatch significantly reduces fire risk and is certified with an ‘A’ Fire Rating, the highest level of fire resistance for roofing materials, as tested to SANS 10177-12 standards.*

Lightning

When it comes to lightning, Harvey Thatch also offers enhanced safety. While lightning strikes the highest point in an area regardless of material, Harvey Thatch is non-combustible and does not increase lightning risk. A lightning pole is not required, but as with all metal roofing systems, proper earthing is recommended and all wiring should be fully insulated.

Create your Look.

Harvey Thatch Roof Tiles are available a range of popular colours to match your vision.

Built to Last, Finished to Impress

Every Harvey Thatch Tile is manufactured using only the highest quality steel, natural stone granules, and advanced bonding materials. Our proprietary bonding process ensures the stone finish adheres permanently to the steel substrate – delivering unmatched durability, natural colour that never fades, and a roof that maintains its beauty and performance for decades.

The Harvey Quality Stamp

Authenticity You Can Trust

At Harvey Roofing Products, quality is never compromised. As a division of Macsteel – Africa’s leading steel supplier – we have access
to premium-grade steel, which is precision-pressed, coated with Zinc or Alu-Zinc, and finished with bonded natural stone for unmatched durability and aesthetics.

Every tile undergoes rigorous quality control checks before earning the Harvey Quality Stamp – our mark of assurance that your tile meets the highest manufacturing standards.

Choose Genuine Quality – Choose Harvey

The roofing market is full of lookalike products that may appear similar but don’t meet the same rigorous standards. Some imported alternatives may lack the durability and long-term performance required to withstand South Africa’s harsh climate – and may not hold up for the full warranty period.

With Harvey Roofing Products, you are choosing over 55 years of proven reliability, backed by a trusted South African brand, professional quality materials, and a commitment to long-term value.

Beware of imitations.

Only tiles bearing the Harvey Quality Stamp are guaranteed to be genuine Harvey products.

“If it doesn’t say Harveytile, it’s not a Harveytile.”
